Privacy Policy – PayPal Account Linking
This Privacy Policy explains how The Shattered Clock (“the Game”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you choose to link a PayPal account to the Game. PayPal linking is optional and is used only for limited identity and verification purposes related to the Game’s player-to-player market features.
1. What we use PayPal for
We use Log in with PayPal so that a player can prove they control a verified PayPal account. We do not use PayPal inside the Game to charge cards, run checkout, store card numbers, or automatically move money on your behalf.
Peer-to-peer fiat transfers related to in-game market trades (if any) are arranged by players themselves outside the Game. The Game only records on-chain game events and whether a PayPal account was linked and verified.
2. Information we receive from PayPal
When you authorise linking, we may receive from PayPal (depending on the scopes you approve):
- PayPal account email address
- PayPal payer / user identifier
- Whether the account is marked as verified
- Basic profile name fields, if provided by PayPal
We request only the scopes needed for this purpose (identity / profile / email / account attributes). We do not request access to your full PayPal transaction history or wallet balance through this link.
3. How we use that information
- To confirm that a linked PayPal account is verified before certain market features are available
- To store a local link on the player’s device/game profile so the Game can recognise a linked account
- To display or use the linked email where needed for player-to-player market coordination inside the Game’s rules
We do not sell this information. We do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Storage and retention
Linked PayPal details are stored locally in connection with the Game client (for example in a local link file on the player’s machine) and/or as needed for the Game’s features you use. You can remove the link using the Game’s unlink option, which deletes the stored PayPal link data from that client.
We retain the information only while the link remains active or as otherwise required to operate the Game features you used, or to meet legal obligations.
5. Blockchain / public data (separate from PayPal)
Some Game features publish data on the Bitcoin SV blockchain (for example market listings, offers, and related game markers). Public blockchain data is permanent and visible to anyone. PayPal passwords and PayPal login secrets are never written to the blockchain.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your PayPal-linked data. We may share information only:
- With PayPal, as part of the official Log in with PayPal authorisation flow
- If required by law or valid legal process
- To protect the rights, safety, or integrity of the Game, players, or the operator
7. Security
Authorisation is handled through PayPal’s official login and token exchange process. You should only approve linking on devices you trust. Keep your PayPal account secure and enable PayPal’s own security features.
8. Children
The Game’s PayPal linking features are not intended for children under 18 (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher). Do not link a PayPal account if you are not permitted to use PayPal or the Game under applicable rules.
9. Your choices
- You can decline PayPal linking and continue using parts of the Game that do not require it
- You can unlink PayPal from within the Game
- You can revoke app access from your PayPal account settings
10. International users
The Game is operated by Joel Dalais. If you access the Game from another country, your information may be processed in the United Kingdom or other locations where infrastructure used by the Game or PayPal operates.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made. Continued use of PayPal linking after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
